My son is a Junior at the University of Alabama. Surely you have seen the news coverage of the devastation that has hit their home town of Tuscaloosa, Alabama as well as many other cities throughout the South. The thought of Cause Marketing and its benefits for helping worthwhile causes has never hit so close to home for me.
My son was one of the fortunate ones. He lives 5 blocks from the path of destruction that tore through his city. I am so thankful for the blessing our family received, and so tormented for the families that were impacted. Young aspiring lives have been cut short. Many of my son’s friends remain on the missing list, and everyone in the community holds their breath in hopes of positive news. Hundreds have been rocked with the loss of all worldly possessions. This picture is one of his friend’s house-more accurately, her former house.
In so many ways, I feel helpless. But, my charitable roots kicked into gear right away. Less than one day after the storm, I coordinated a community donation project to collect clothing for the students of Alabama. I’m pleased to report that one simple outreach email has already resulted in hundreds of pounds of donations headed for Tuscaloosa on Monday. The American spirit and desire to help is alive and well, and eager to kick into gear.
Now, as time passes and the shock and fear subside a bit, additional ideas have a chance to be born, I have a new thought forming – a cause marketing related effort! There has never been a more personally meaningful and important time for me to leverage my cause skill set than now. I’d like to direct my 20+ years of cause marketing experience to help raise funds and create resources to bolster the rebuilding efforts. Please consider helping this effort in one of the following ways:
