Engage for Good
Formerly known as the Cause Marketing Forum, Engage for Good is the go-to association for those involved in cause marketing. For Momentum has partnered with Engage for Good since longtime friend and colleague David Hessekiel founded the organization in 2002. Their goal is “increasing the number of successful company/cause alliances by providing business and nonprofit executives with the practical information and connections they need to succeed.” The organization meets that goal by delivering online and in-person educational and networking opportunities like the annual Engage for Good Conference and its sister organization’s Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Professional Forum Conference.
Engage for Good also produces news and articles and Cause Talk Radio podcast featuring hosts Megan Strand and Joe Waters.
Engage for Good members receive free monthly newsletters and webinars and discounts to the conference. If you’re just learning about cause marketing, you may be interested in the Cause Marketing 101 classes that For Momentum founder and president Mollye Rhea developed for Engage for Good. Originally recorded for members in 2011, Mollye refreshed the course and led three live webinars in January 2016. The recorded webinars will are now available on demand. To purchase the course, visit the Cause Marketing 101 Supercourse page on the Engage for Good website.
Selfish Giving
As the director of cause marketing for a Boston hospital, Joe Waters developed and executed fundraising and marketing campaigns with local and national companies. In 2004, Joe started the Selfish Giving blog with the goal of providing “do-gooders, nonprofits and businesses the tools and strategies they need to raise money, build stakeholder loyalty and change the world.”
Now an independent consultant and “do-gooder” in his own right, Joe is also a prolific writer and entertaining speaker (with a wicked Boston accent!). He has authored three books: Fundraising with Businesses, Cause Marketing for Dummies and QR Codes for Dummies. Joe is our favorite guest contributor at the Cause Marketing Focus blog and has also written articles and posts for trade and mainstream publications like Fast Company, Huffington Post, Forbes and more.
