Celebrating Milestones: March of Dimes’ 75 Years of Impact & Storytelling

Updated seal 1.22.13Here’s a quick quiz for you. What nonprofit has benefited literally every reader of this blog? Well, if you were born after the year 1938, the answer is the March of Dimes! In this issue of For Momentum’s Client Spotlight, For Momentum congratulates our client March of Dimes on its significant accomplishments that have literally touched us all. Best known for its groundbreaking work in eradicating polio and helping premature babies thrive, March of Dimes has also funded Nobel prize winning research that led to the discovery of the double helix in DNA, the importance of folic acid in healthy pregnancy, and the development of the Apgar score to advance newborn health for all 4MM babies born each year in the United States. This year, March of Dimes’ imbornto® cause marketing campaign will further capitalize on its strength in effective storytelling. This campaign is designed to tap into the collective hopes, dreams and aspirations that we have for our babies and ourselves by celebrating that every baby is born to do something great and that, through the work of the March of Dimes, they will be born strong and healthy. What better story could there be to tell than the one that centers on your baby’s happy, healthy future? Check out this 30m second imbornto® PSA for a stellar example of motivational nonprofit messaging.

The imbornto® campaign takes place during the Mother’s Day to Father’s Day celebration time by engaging companies and consumers to give back. After all, every time a new baby is born, so is a mother and a father! The campaign is still open to additional corporate partners and March of Dimes has secured some great ones already – including Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia which is planning traditional print features as well as savvy social media integration.

March of Dimes is combining the power of cause marketing and effective storytelling to garner critical support for their efforts to help all babies achieve what they were born to do. How can YOUR organization and partnerships tell your story to engage people for maximum impact?
