WOW. Mashable’s 3rd annual Social Good Summit this past weekend…just WOW. Totally inspiring. Totally, totally inspiring. Thank you @Mashable and all the incredible speakers, attendees and Tweeps! Very much like the printing press, social media is clearly a powerful resource for catalyzing social action and positive global change – “social good.” Innovative change makers are already capitalizing on the amazing global opportunities. The impact of social good will continue to grow exponentially over time.
The 2012 Social Good Summit was made possible by Mashable, 92nd Street Y, the United Nations Foundation, Ericsson, the United Nations Development Programme, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

MASHABLE’S 2012 SOCIAL GOOD SUMMIT HIGHLIGHTS
Each of the link below includes a list of memorable quotes, videos, images, info and key links for each day. I’ve included a few of the quotes here for some bite-sized social good inspiration:
Social Good Summit Day 1: Highlights and Pics
“It’s about turning government into a platform for open innovation. Data by itself is useless. I can’t feed my baby daughter data, as much as I’d love to because I love data. It’s only useful if you apply it to create an actual public benefit.” – Todd Park, U.S. Chief Technology Officer
“Ninety percent of the world’s population is covered by a mobile signal. Fifty percent of people in sub-saharan Africa own cell phones — there’s more on the African continent than in the U.S.” – John Nesbit, CEO of Medic Mobile
Social Good Summit Day 2: Highlights and Pics
“Now every company has to stand for something because this generation demands it.” – Deborah Dugan, CEO of (RED)
“Social change is about connecting with networks and connecting them with on-the-ground change.” – Beth Kanter, author
“To be socially good, we need to be good socially. We need to use fully the capacity we have, the powerful capacity of social media.” – Under Secretary-General Yury V. Fedotov, executive director of the UNODC
Social Good Summit Day 3: Highlights and Pics
“When you give people the tools to take action, they do so.” – Danae Ringelmann, co-founder of Indiegogo
“One thing the humanitarian world doesn’t do well is marketing. As a journalist, I get pitched everyday by companies that have new products. Meanwhile, you have issues like clean water, literacy for girls, female empowerment. People flinch at the idea of marketing these because marketing sounds like something only companies do.” – Nicholas Kristof, New York Times columnist
