Midyear Update: 2021 Must-Attend Social Impact Conferences

June 29, 2021 Leave a Comment

By: Avi Mayerhoff

Many of our favorite conferences went virtual during the first half of the year. Although we missed seeing our colleagues in person, we enjoyed presenting, learning and interacting in new ways ̶ and we’re not finished yet. Check out the latest updates on conferences we’ll be attending in the back half of the year. Which ones are on your list, too?

July

Points of Light, July 14-16, Now Virtual

This conference is a global convening of nonprofit, government, business and civic leaders. It’s long been a connector, providing innovative ideas and resources that make it easier for people to do good in new and meaningful ways. This year’s virtual experience will include a youth summit featuring the voices of socially conscious Gen Z advocates and a celebrity-hosted late-night talk show. A number of sessions will address topics related to COVID-19 disaster response, recovery and planning. All keynotes and breakout sessions will be recorded to view on demand.

Bridge Conference, July 14-16, Now Virtual

This conference is the premier gathering for fundraising and marketing professionals. It provides insights on the latest strategies, techniques and innovations in direct response and major donor fundraising. The decision to go virtual this year was made after months of deliberation. Numerous safety and economic factors were considered, including participants’ personal tolerance for travel. The virtual experience will be delivered through a robust platform with the guidance of a seasoned virtual experience expert to ensure the keynotes, panels, workshops and networking are dynamic and engaging.

September

INBOUND, September 7-10, Virtual

INBOUND is an annual experience uniting super-curious, question-asking professionals with big-name and break-out industry thinkers. This event’s 250+ speakers are reshaping the future and will help you bring adrenaline for change to everything you touch. The virtual experience will include live interactive sessions, on-demand content you can enjoy at your own pace and meetups for exchanging ideas with peers and growing your network.

Corporate Philanthropy & Social Impact Conference, September 14-16, Virtual

This year’s conference will address the major events of 2020, including an increase in natural disasters and spotlight on social justice. It will explore what they mean for corporate citizen practitioners, particularly in the areas of international grantmaking, disaster philanthropy and impact measurement. Speakers will include leadership from Center for Disaster Philanthropy, New York Life Foundation, TOMS Shoes, Calvin Klein, CARE, Home Depot Foundation and Google.

October

BBCON, October 13-15, Virtual

BBCON is the ultimate conference experience for every person and organization using technology to build a better world. It’s where you go to get inspired, energized, equipped and empowered—all while connecting with your community. You can expect three days of cutting-edge thought leadership, virtual networking and unforgettable experiences.

November

ACCP Conference (Association of Corporate Citizenship Professionals), November 3-4, Houston, TX

The ACCP Annual Corporate Citizenship Conference is the only conference designed specifically for CSR professionals with a focus on practical learning and camaraderie. It’s only open to those working for a corporation in a professional corporate citizenship capacity to ensure attendees get the most out of the experience. General sessions will feature the most dynamic CSR professionals in the industry sharing how they’re innovating their programs to stay ahead of the fast-changing CSR landscape. Learning lab breakout sessions will offer opportunities to explore a specific topic with a small group of peers, sharing best practices and problem solving. The ACCP is closely monitoring both CDC and Houston guidelines around COVID-19 safety, as well as working with the venue to ensure enhanced cleaning and safety protocols. A virtual version of the conference will also take place in December.

Corporate Responsibility Summit, November 4, New York, NY and Virtual

The Corporate Responsibility Summit is offering the option to attend in-person or virtually this year. The conference assembles top professionals focused on responsible and sustainable business. It addresses the key issues and challenges in CSR, including planning, implementation, effective management and sustainability. You’ll learn how businesses and nonprofits can best partner to create fun and engaging communications campaigns, raise funds, improve reputation and make significant impact.

December

ACCP Conference (Association of Corporate Citizenship Professionals), December 7-9, Virtual Version

For those who prefer a virtual experience, the ACCP is offering an online version of their November conference in December. It will offer 12 hours of learning through recorded general sessions with real-time Q&A, a selection of live and interactive learning labs, plus collaborative discussion blocks with peers.

2021 Conference Cancellation

America’s Charities Collective Impact Conference

The Charities Collective Impact Conference has been cancelled this year out of an abundance of caution for personal safety and an assessment that the same quality experience could not be delivered virtually. The organization will continue to host webinars on workplace giving and employee engagement and encourages those interested to sign up for their newsletter for event information and updates.

The For Momentum team would be glad to discuss our experiences at these conferences with you and advise on the most helpful picks for developing your corporate partner programs. Reach out to us anytime.
